
The one on the left made the mistake of mentioning his thought that he and the one on the right are a bit like a couple. The one on the right decided a couple months ago that that was out of the question and she's just about to let him know it. (I had to edit this post because the word "it" was just hanging out on the last line by itself. For some reason I can't let myself let that happen. I want to call it a diphthong but that's not right, is it? What is it called when a word just hangs out by itself on the last line?)
It's called an orphan.
ReplyDeleteA diphthong is...something else. A word with multiple vocal sounds buried in a single syllable, maybe? Like Charles. or Boil.
